I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

If you are unable to find a water valve to turn off, then you could try turning on all the cold water taps inside and outside your residence to depressurise the pipework and minimise the leak.

Once that is done, give our plumber a call, no matter what the day or time is. We will be with you shortly to fix the leak.

While you wait for our emergency plumber, remove any important things, mop up any water, and position a container to catch any drips. You should also turn off the hot water heating if the main water is turned off.

Help, I don’t know where the main water shutoff valve is!

You may have been shown it as a stopcock, isolating valve or toby. This valve is normally located on the boundary near the road, usually under a blue or black plastic cover.

Remember, a lot of appliances and fixtures have their own isolating valves also.
