I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If there is water still leaking, turn off the water to the appliance or fixture if you can, or go immediately to the main shutoff valve for your property. If you are unable to find the main valve to turn off, then you may want to try turning on all the cold water taps inside and outside the residence to depressurise the system and minimise the leak.

Once that’s done, give our team a call, whatever the day or time is. We will be with you promptly to fix the leak.

While you wait for our emergency plumber to arrive, remove any important things, wipe up any water, and put a container to catch any drips. You should also switch off the hot water heating if the main water is turned off.
